During the ABC Radio Darwin interview, when asked by presenter Adam Steer if there needed to be a "full review and urgent police training on how to respond to domestic violence calls", Commander O'Brien said he "wouldn't be calling for any further reviews". Dr Freckelton KC told the coroner that since the "unfortunate interview given by Mr O'Brien" he was "no longer fulfilling" the role of acting assistant commissioner and had returned to his substantive rank of commander.
