Eshwar Khandre promises permanent solution to end human-elephant conflict

Minister for Forests Eshwar Khandre on Monday assured people affected by the elephant menace that the State government will find a permanent solution to end human-elephant conflict in Hassan district. Elephant camp The Minister said that the government would set up an elephant camp in Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, and elephants that were causing trouble in parts of Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts would be captured and shifted to the proposed camp. Further, he said that the department would strengthen the elephant task force in the district and set up offices in Belur and Sakaleshpur. The Minister also said that the department would soon capture four trouble-causing elephants.
