Coimbatore plans to complete UGD pipeline work by June next year as more areas fall within ambit

The Coimbatore Corporation plans to complete the installation of over 900 km of underground drainage pipelines in areas previously excluded from the scheme by June 2026. According to data shared by a civic body official, in the Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur areas, which cover 14 wards, 390.14 km of the total 390.19 km sewer length has been laid. In Vadavalli and Veerakeralam, which cover four wards, 78.42 km of the total 230 km sewer length has been completed. In the areas of Ondipudur left out, 63 km of the planned 135.6 km sewer length were laid, and in the Chinnavedampatti, Saravanampatti, and Vellakinar areas, 48.35 km of the total 202 km sewer length were laid.
