Kerala Court Grants Bail To CPM Leader Accused Of Abetting ADM's Suicide

A Kerala Court on Friday has granted bail to CPM Member and former Kannur district Panchayath President PP Divya, accused of abetting the suicide of Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu. Earlier, the anticipatory bail application filed by Divya was dismissed by Thalassery Sessions Court stating that there is prima facie evidence suggesting that she engaged in a pre-planned and premeditated act to instigate and abet the suicide of ADM Naveen Babu. Her anticipatory bail application was rejected stating that Divya attended the farewell function without an invitation and also on finding that there is prima facie evidence that she invited the media to cover it which would amount to instigation. The Court, while dismissing her anticipatory bail plea, had then stated that Divya should have approached the appropriate law enforcement authority if she had a complaint against ADM Naveen Babu instead of making open allegations without evidence.
