Haryana told to put new garbage dump on fast track

The ongoing battle against dumping of garbage in Gurgaon received a further fillip on Friday. HT Image The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Haryana government to file a time schedule chart report about steps being taken for setting up a solid waste treatment plant at Bandhwari along Gurgaon-Faridabad road. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice Jasbir Singh directed Principal Secretary Haryana to file an affidavit in this connection, listing every step being taken for setting up the plant. During the resumed hearing of the petition, the Municipal Corporation Gurgaon submitted that the civic body of Faridabad would set up a solid waste treatment plant at Bandhwari village, about 15 kms from Gurgaon, within one year. In his additional status report, the Executive Officer of MC Gurgaon, YS Gupta, stated that the MC Faridabad had already engaged National Building Construction Corporation Limited under Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Planning Mission for setting up the plant.
