Delhi poll: AAP promises security aid to RWAs
The HinduAam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal announced another election promise on Friday of providing funds to the city’s resident welfare associations to hire private security guards if voted to power in the February 5 Delhi Assembly poll. “We are not replacing the police system, but hoping that the private security guards will provide basic security around these colonies, thwart robberies and ban entry of unauthorised individuals,” the AAP national convener said. ‘False promise’ Parvesh Sahib Singh, the BJP candidate against Mr. Kejriwal from New Delhi constituency, asked whether the AAP chief remembers his promises to RWAs in 2018 and 2022. Ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi poll in 2022, Mr. Kejriwal promised to grant “financial and political powers” to the RWAs with their own “mini councillors”.
