Durgam Cheruvu STP to be operational by month-end

HYDERABAD: Durgam Cheruvu Sewage Treatment Plant, one of the 31 STPS being constructed in the city, is nearing completion and is likely to be operational by the end of this month, said an official from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board. According to a water board official, the Durgam Cheruvu STP, being constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 15 crore, has a capacity of seven million litres/day. Meanwhile, currently, 1,950 million gallons of sewage are generated daily within Hyderabad urban agglomeration, of which 1,650 million gallons are produced in GHMC limits. Of that, 772 million gallons are treated through the existing 25 sewage treatment plants.
