Rs 2,653 Crore Sanctioned For Sangameswara Lift Irrigation Project: Harish Rao
Deccan ChronicleHYDERABAD: The state government has sanctioned Rs 2,653 crore for constructing the Sangameswara lift irrigation project to irrigate 2.19 lakh acres of farm lands, finance minister T. Harish Rao announced on Wednesday. Harish Rao said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao started giving top priority to agriculture and farmers after Telangana state was formed in 2014. “Chandrashekar Rao is committed to constructing the Sangameswara and Basweswara projects that would irrigate farms with water from the Singur project,” he said. The minister added, “With the construction of the Sangameswara project, the farmers of Medak, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Jogipet, Zaheerabad and Narayanapet will get plenty of irrigation water and they can have two crops per year."
