Apple says Facebook collects data without any regard for user privacy
Apple has planned to push ahead with its planned launch of a new privacy feature despite objections from the advertising industry. In a letter to a coalition of privacy groups, Apple’s director of global privacy, Jane Horvath said that App Tracking Transparency that requires users to actively allow developers to track how they use other apps will still be launched. "We developed ATT for a single reason: because we share your concerns about users being tracked without their consent and the bundling and reselling of data by advertising networks and data brokers," Horvath wrote. "Facebook executives have made clear their intent is to collect as much data as possible across both first and third party products to develop and monetise detailed profiles of their users, and this disregard for user privacy continues to expand to include more of their products," Horvath wrote. Facebook in response said that Apple uses its dominant market position to self-preference its own data collection while making it nearly impossible for their competitors to use the same data.
