What we’re hearing about NASCAR’s 2024 schedule, Silly Season, and more: Mailbag
New York TimesFrom NASCAR’s next television contract to what the 2024 schedule may look like to the ongoing game of musical chairs that is Silly Season to the regular season winding down with some big names on the playoff bubble, there is plenty of ground to cover in The Athletic’s NASCAR mailbag. The probability is higher that SHR finds its way back to the front again versus a mid-tier team making a huge performance jump up to where they’re consistently winning races and vying for championships. The pieces are there for some seismic moves to unfold over the next few weeks and months, considering that: SHR naming Josh Berry to replace the retiring Kevin Harvick was a bit of a surprise; we still don’t have clarity on if Aric Almirola will retire or who SHR would sign to fill his seat if he does; nor do we know what Kaulig Racing will do to replace Haley; or how Front Row Motorsports will set its lineup. Adding a race here gives NASCAR another short track on the schedule, and any concerns about too many tracks within close proximity could be resolved by NASCAR shifting one of Kansas’ two dates here.
