Telangana first in India in recovering lost mobile phones

Hyderabad: The Central Equipment Identity Register portal has helped the Telangana Police to track 68% of lost or missing mobile phones. State DGP Anjani Kumar congratulated the nodal officer ADG CID and the team for coordinating with DOT Hyderabad to make the state top. The DoT-developed CEIR portal, which is intended to help curb the theft of mobiles and counterfeit mobiles, began its Telangana services on April 19 this year. According to the data, CEIR has helped trace more than 1,000 lost or missing mobiles in the first month of its launch and another 1,160 mobiles in 25 days.
