Actor Upendra gets interim relief from High Court over 'anti-Dalit' remark

After two First Information Reports were lodged against Kannada actor Upendra over his alleged comments against Dalits during a Facebook Live session, the Karnataka police on Monday reached the actor's residence and issued a notice to him for investigation. However, actor Upendra gets an interim stay from Karnataka High Court on the investigation. Soon after the session, his remarks triggered anger and protests in Ramanagara, Karnataka, where a pro-Dalit organisation protested against actor Upendra. Reacting to Upendra's remark, Karnataka social welfare minister, Mahadevappa said “Upendra is a famous actor, producer and a person who wants to be in public life through a certain political party.
