GHMC to Set Up 1K Smartbins

Hyderabad: With its bin-free concept collapsing, the GHMC has decided to reinstall garbage bins but with a difference. According to GHMC officials, 1,000 such smart bins will be set up in different parts of the city. The step to remove the traditional bins was taken in an attempt to get a good rank in Swachh Survekshan and a premature declaration of Hyderabad as a ‘bin-free city’ by the previous BRS government. "These bins will be placed mostly in the garbage vulnerable points near stretches where many commercial establishments are located.
