Unni Mukundan steps down as treasurer of Malayalam actors’ body AMMA
The HinduActor Unni Mukundan has stepped down from the post of treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes, citing increased work pressure and professional commitments. The actor, who is basking in the box-office success of Marco, said he can no longer fulfil his duties effectively given the growing commitments ahead. I am deeply grateful for the trust and support I have received during my tenure, and I wish my successor every success in carrying forward the responsibilities of this role,” he said. The association of actors had faced a setback when its executive committee was dissolved on August 27, 2024 amid growing allegations of sexual assault and misbehaviour raised by women against its members in the wake of the release of the K. Hema Committee report that probed the problems faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
