Kalvin Phillips handed England lifeline as Juventus and Newcastle could offer Man City exit
The TelegraphKalvin Phillips is set to be offered a January route out of Manchester City to keep his Euro 2024 dream alive – thanks to the Italian betting scandal. Newcastle have shown an interest in Phillips in the past but, like Juventus, would most likely want only a loan deal in January and it remains to be seen whether City would allow him to move to a Premier League rival on a temporary basis. After helping England clinch their place at next summer’s European Championship, Phillips said: “I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend. Other than Juventus and Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur’s new technical director Johan Lange is a big fan of Phillips and he could hit the north London club’s radar should Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave them in January.
