Helmets to be made mandatory from January 12: Home Minister

The government has decided to make the wearing of helmet compulsory for two-wheeler riders in Puducherry from January 12, Home Minister A. Namassivayam has said. From January 12, the helmet rule for two-wheeler riders will be made mandatory. People will have to follow the instructions of the police on wearing the helmet as there is a clear direction from the court,” the Home Minister told presspersons after holding a high-level review meeting at the Police Headquarters. The Minister further said that around 2,000 police personnel would be deployed to maintain the law and order situation during New Year celebrations.
