Chiefs film review: Coaches Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo put on a clinic Monday
New York TimesAt the NFL level, coaching is at the same time overrated and underrated in its importance. Remember when Chiefs head coach Andy Reid “couldn’t win the big one,” as if former Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford lining up offsides was his fault? The Chiefs’ pre-snap look gives the appearance that Jackson’s favorite target, tight end Mark Andrews, will have room to work in the middle of the field. The Chiefs’ rushers, defensive ends Frank Clark and Taco Charlton, do an excellent job maintaining discipline in their rush and are able to pursue Jackson as he breaks toward the edge and the window to the running back closes when Sorensen moves closer to the line of scrimmage. The Chiefs are overloading the line of scrimmage against an empty set and showing man coverage across the board here, which they’d done multiple plays in a row.
