Kerala Assembly: State can’t accept Centre’s proposal to build third and fourth rail lines from own funds, says Minister
A third and a fourth rail lines are essential for operating and allotting more trains in Kerala. The State government has recently taken up this matter with the Union Railway Minister as part of addressing the travel woes. However, the Railway authorities are of the view that the third and the fourth lines can be constructed from the Kerala government’s own funds if it wants more trains immediately to address the travel woes, Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman, who is in charge of the Railways department in Kerala, has said. Replying to a calling attention motion in the Kerala Assembly here on Tuesday, he said despite the State taking up projects such Sabari Rail with the railway authorities multiple times, the Railways has not yet made a conclusive decision on the project. “After this government came to power, various State delegations met the Union Railway Minister many times to ensure the rail development in the State.
