Boris Johnson's neighbour speaks out about calling the police over domestic row
ABCThe neighbour of British MP Boris Johnson has spoken publicly about his decision to call the police after he heard a loud altercation with a woman coming from Mr Johnson's apartment on Friday. Key points: Boris Johnson's neighbour Tom Penn says he shared audio of the incident with the media because it was in the public interest Johnson, who is frontrunner to become Britain's next PM, has served as London mayor and foreign secretary The Conservative MP declined to comment on the incident during a party event over the weekend The Guardian reported on Sunday that Tom Penn, who has lived at the property in south London for around a year, said he only called the police as a last resort once he had knocked three times on the door of the flat Mr Johnson shares with his girlfriend Carrie Symonds. Mr Johnson, the favourite to be the next British prime minister, said party members were not interested in why police were called to investigate concerns for the welfare of a woman in his home. "I don't think want to hear about that kind of thing, unless I'm wrong," Mr Johnson said when asked about the incident, to applause from the audience. Former prime minister Theresa May, who stood down on June 7, appointed Mr Johnson foreign secretary in 2016, however her approach to Brexit saw him resign two years later.
