‘Krrish 4’: Rakesh Roshan to not direct Hrithik Roshan-starrer; Siddharth Anand’s Marflix reportedly opts out of project

Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has revealed that he has opted not to direct Krrish 4, the much-awaited fourth installment in his blockbuster superhero franchise, headlined by his son and Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan. Meanwhile, reports have also claimed that director Siddharth Anand’s production banner Marflix has opted out of the project, reportedly due to challenges in pitching a high-budget superhero film “in the post-Marvel era.” Bollywood Hungama’s story had cited the film’s enormous budget — reported as Rs 700 crore — for the studios’ hesitancy to commit, adding that it made it harder for Siddharth Anand’s Marflix to find a studio to produce the film with. Notably, the franchise was launched by Rakesh Roshan with the 2003 sci-fi feature Koi Mil Gaya, which starred Hrithik as a scientist opposite Preity Zinta. The film featured Krrish in dual roles, as Dr. Rohit Mehra, the scientist from Koi Mil Gaya, and his son Krishna Mehra, a young man with superhuman abilities who takes on the identity of Krrish.
