Industries urged to contribute more for defence sector
The HinduThe industry and the academia in Tamil Nadu should work together and collaborate with the Defence organisations to cater to the needs of the aero space sector and the Navy, said the speakers at a conference held in Coimbatore on Saturday. The Aerospace Industry Development Association of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation organised a conference on ‘Strategic Business Opportunity with DRDO Aeronautical Cluster & Cochin Shipyard’ in Coimbatore on Saturday to foster collaboration between the industry and the academia and to highlight opportunities in the defence sectors, especially aero space and the Navy. Christopher, chairman of AIDAT, said that Tamil Nadu, which was known for its industrial excellence did not have many players in the aero space sector. An interaction with the DRDO Aeronautical cluster would enable the industries understand the kind of projects undertaken by the DRDO and how MSMEs can collaborate with it.
