Indian-origin illegal immigrant jailed in UK for robbery, tried to fake age
India TodayAn illegal immigrant from Punjab, was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for violently assaulting a worker during a robbery at a Wickes hardware store in Berkshire, UK. The robbery took place in May 2022 when Karandeep, along with his accomplice Satwant Singh, a 34-year-old Indian national, attempted to steal spirit levels from the Wickes store in Slough, Berkshire. Judge Sarah Jane Campbell questioned Karandeep’s age, pointing out that his appearance seemed older than 18, and noted that one of his aliases listed a birthdate that would make him five years older than his claimed age. When staff member Morgan Duffy confronted the pair, Satwant Singh dragged him outside while Karandeep Singh struck him on the head with a spirit level, causing a 9 cm wound that required medical attention.
