Boris Johnson gives Bank of England's Carney new role for climate change summit

Boris Johnson has reached across the Brexit divide to offer departing Bank of England Governor Mark Carney a new job as climate change adviser ahead of a major summit in Glasgow. Leading Brexiteers such as Jacob Rees-Mogg and Iain Duncan-Smith also accused the Governor of being a key architect of “Project Fear” due to the Bank’s predictions that a Leave vote would trigger recession. Sources said the job complements Mr Carney's other new role as a United Nations envoy on climate finance. The Governor, whose wife is a leading environmental campaigner, has used his platform at the Bank of England to push climate change risks to the fore.
