Centre demands 2BHK beneficiary list
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: The Centre has made it clear to the state government that it would not release its quota of funds to construct double bedroom/ hall/kitchen houses in the state until the government of Telangana shortlist the list of beneficiaries. The delay in shortlisting the beneficiaries could affect the progress of about 70,000 2BHK houses in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits alone and one lakh dwelling units across the state. Of the 2.70 lakh units target, the State government is committed to completing 1 lakh houses under GHMC limits and another 1 lakh units in rural pockets by the end of December. According to highly placed sources in the housing department, the government has so far has cleared by bills worth Rs 5,500 crore which was majorly funded by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited. Out of about 1.90 lakh 2BHK houses grounded about 45,000 dwelling units in GHMC area and 1 lakh houses in remaining districts of Telangana have already completed 95 per cent of their construction and the remaining have been in various stages of construction since the August 2018.
