The events of the sequel take place 27 years after the first film, with a new cast – including Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy – playing older versions of the kids. According to Entertainment Weekly, McAvoy joked: “He’s too talented and he threatens me, so I made him disappear.” The footage shown reportedly focussed on Chastain’s adult Beverly Marsh, who returns to her old home in Derry. Are you a daddy’s girl, Beverly?” A montage of footage, featuring the old and new cast, then played, ending with a shot of Pennywise looking at the camera saying “Hello”.
