Live LawThe Jammu & Kashmir Peoples conference has moved the Supreme Court seeking early hearing of the batch of pleas' challenging the abrogation of Article 370 & reorganisation of the Jammu & Kashmir.On 5 August 2019, the Government of India revoked the special status, or limited autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu & Kashmir Peoples conference has moved the Supreme Court seeking early hearing of the batch of pleas' challenging the abrogation of Article 370 & reorganisation of the Jammu & Kashmir. On 5 August 2019, the Government of India revoked the special status, or limited autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir. "Notwithstanding the foregoing, pending the final hearing of these petitions challenging the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile State of Jammy and Kashmir and the abrogation of the Constitution of Jammu & Kashmir and notwithstanding the prevailing pandemic conditions sweeping changes are being brought about by the Centre that impact the rights of a large number of people including the dilution of safeguards earlier available to the permanent residents of the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir," the application states.
