Forced conversions take place at sword-point in Bangladesh, claims Iskcon priest

A leader of the Hindu spiritual organisation Iskcon in Kolkata has claimed that people in Bangladesh are being forcibly converted to another religion, and those unwilling to comply are being threatened with swords. Radharaman Das, Vice President of Iskcon Kolkata, called it an alarming situation and accused the fundamentalists currently in power in Bangladesh of misleading people. The Iskcon Vice President also criticised the Bangladesh government for halting court hearings of Chinmoy Das Prabhu, a Hindu monk arrested on sedition charges. On Wednesday, a Bangladesh court rejected a plea to advance the hearing of Das’s bail petition in the sedition case, ruling that the hearing would proceed as scheduled on January 2.
