India TodayHours after Pakistan's former spy master and senior-most Lt General Asim Munir was appointed as the new Army chief, reactions from across the political spectrum and parties started pouring in. Pakistan's former ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also reacted to the development and expressed hope that the new leadership of the armed forces of Pakistan will play its constitutional role and stay out of the politics of domestic affairs, the Express Tribune reported. "We hope that the new leadership of the armed forces of Pakistan will play its constitutional role so constitutional rights and democracy in the country are strengthened and people’s rights to elect a new leadership through fresh elections, would be recognised," the country's former ruling party said following the key appointments in the military. The party also hit out at the ruling Shehbaz Sharif government and alleged that human rights in Pakistan have been violated and the government has plunged the country into the worst form of political instability.
