Cross-border town of Nelson creates bumper sticker to ease hostility

ABC

The residents of Nelson, a small, close-knit fishing town in a remote corner of south-west Victoria, have crossed the South Australian border just 5 kilometres away for decades without giving their travel a second thought. Nelson residents John Davis and his partner Trish had to find new GPs during South Australia's harshest border restrictions. "Half the town if you went to their house you'd think 'the day's going slow' then you realise you're on South Australia time," he said. When the tougher restrictions were announced, he said many Nelson residents "fled" and found places to stay in Mount Gambier, leaving Nelson like a "ghost town".
