Nanded Farmers Seek Compensation For Land Acquired For Highway Uplift, Bombay HC Issues Notices

The Bombay High Court has issued notice to the Centre and the Maharashtra government on plea of 12 farmers from Nanded district seeking compensation in lieu of their land acquired for facelift of a stretch of NH50.The Aurangabad bench of Justice SS Shinde and Justice KK Sonawane issued notices to the governments and also the National Highways Authority of India on the petition filed by. The Bombay High Court has issued notice to the Centre and the Maharashtra government on plea of 12 farmers from Nanded district seeking compensation in lieu of their land acquired for facelift of a stretch of NH50. The Aurangabad bench of Justice SS Shinde and Justice KK Sonawane issued notices to the governments and also the National Highways Authority of India on the petition filed by the farmers through advocate PS Anerao alleging the government has illegally acquired their lands in Lalwadi, Nanded, without proper measurement and compensation for upgrade of the stretch of NH 50 covering Nanded, Usman Nagar, Kandhar, Jam and Jalkot. Anerao submitted that the Superintendent Engineer, National Highway Circle, Aurangabad, had prepared the land acquisition plan for the quality improvement work but has failed to implement it till date and acquired the lands of the petitioner without any notice.
