Tiruchi Corporation to make pet licence mandatory, online registration system to be in place in April
The HinduTiruchi Corporation has embarked on developing an online pet animal registration system for the public to obtain pet licence for dogs in the city. Following complaints about pet owners abandoning dogs, which charge at passers-by, the civic body has decided to make the registration of pet dogs mandatory. The uploaded details will be linked with the animal birth control centres in the city and a veterinary team will be engaged to carry out verification to check the condition of the dog, ascertain if an anti-rabies vaccine is administered to pet dogs and so on,” said M. Vijay Chandran, City Health Officer. The civic body had planned to organise special camps for administering anti-rabies vaccination for pet dogs and to administer booster doses for the earlier vaccinated stray dogs to maintain immunity and prevent the spread of disease.
