Congress High command must intervene: Sudheeran

The Hindu

Senior Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran, on Thursday, urged the party high command to intervene urgently and settle issues related to the Congress and the United Democratic Front to improve the image of the party and the coalition ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The emphasis of Mr. Sudheeran’s discussions with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, when he met them at separate meetings on Thursday, was on the need for a change in the functioning styles of the State leadership, with more involvement of the party in policy formulation through discussions at the appropriate forums. Mr. Sudheeran is understood to have pointed out the lack of proper discussions on policy and administrative issues despite having a party-government coordination committee in place. AICC sources said that Mr. Sudheeran had opposed suggestions to appease the Kerala Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League by giving in to some of their demands in view of the imperatives of winning the maximum number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
