CEIR-tech helps TS police recover 2,219 missing mobile devices
Deccan ChronicleHYDERABAD: The Telangana police, with the assistance of the telecommunications department, have traced 2,219 mobile phones that were lost or went missing, by using the Central Equipment Identity Register technology, in the last two months. Nearly 60 personnel were provided training and CEIR user IDs were distributed to all 780 police stations under 31 police units. Police officials said that using CEIR has helped trace more than 1,000 lost or missing mobiles in the first month of its launch and another 1,160 mobiles in 25 days. Although all police units have contributed to tracing mobile phones, the major contributions have come from Cyberabad commissionerate with 300 mobile devices, Warangal commissionerate, Rachakonda and Kamareddy district.
