Hyderabad Metro sees a surge in ridership amid decline in Covid cases

After experiencing losses during the first and second waves of the Covid-19 pandemic, the L&T Metro Rail Limited is slowly witnessing a rise in ridership from the start of 2022. Recently, the Hyderabad Metro introduced ozone-based sanitisation of its train coaches to instill confidence among the passengers amid the pandemic. Telangana Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar also said that Hyderabad Metro is yet to recover financially from the impact of the pandemic. Metro suffered losses An LTMRHL official told TNIE that the Hyderabad Metro suffered losses and LTMRHL had been assured of full support from the government to counter losses. Before the outbreak of the pandemic, the daily ridership of Hyderabad Metro Rail was over four lakh.
