T.N. govt plans to reconstruct more than 5,000 dilapidated TNUHDB tenements in two years

The Tamil Nadu government has planned to take up several housing projects in the financial year 2025-26, catering to the needs of government employees and low-income groups. To address the growing demand for affordable housing for government employees, the State government has planned to construct 190 quarters covering a total area of two lakh square feet at ₹ 110 crore at Todd Hunter Nagar in Saidapet. Further, the State government has allocated ₹1,051 crore for the next two years to rebuild 5,256 dilapidated houses. To deal with increasing housing needs of low-income groups, the State government has also planned to establish a corpus to support the construction of new houses for eligible beneficiaries.
