Mumbai schools won’t open on 23 Nov, to remain shut till 31 Dec

In view of the rising number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai, all schools under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will remain closed till 31 December. The Mumbai civic body officials have said the move reflects apprehensions over a possible second wave of the novel coronavirus pandemic sweeping through the city. Earlier this month, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said the examinations of Class X and XII conducted by the state board will not be held before May 2021 instead of February or March due to the prevailing coronavirus situation. "The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will not be able to conduct the exams of Class X and XII before May," Gaikwad said.
