A 24-year-old youth was killed in an accident here. D. Vignesh, a resident of Neelamangalam in Kallakurichi district, and his friend M. Dhanush of the same village, were going to Coimbatore on a two-wheeler, with Vignesh driving the vehicle. When they reached Vaikundam service road on the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway, Vignesh was said to have lost control over the vehicle and it fell on the road. Teacher arrested under POCSO Act in Salem Srinivasan, a drawing teacher in a government school in Mallur police limits, was arrested following complaint by three girl students that he misbehaved with them. The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested and remanded him in prison.
