Unauthorised board in front of Secretariat: HC orders police probe
The HinduThe Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the State Police Chief to constitute a competent team of officers to ensure that an investigation into a complaint of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation was conducted swiftly to verify those responsible for a huge board installed allegedly under the aegis of the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association in front of the Secretariat. Justice Devan Ramachandran ordered that the investigation should reveal the names and identities of those responsible as well as that of the printer/ The court was told by the amicus curiae that the board had been removed immediately after the illegal installation was widely reported in the media. A proper investigation at the highest level became imperative, particularly when the amicus curiae reported that the office-bearers of the association were high ranking officials, the court said. The court also directed the Corporation to file a report indicating the amount of fine imposed/collected and the expenses incurred and the strain taken for disposal of the huge board.
