Qingdao unveils prototype for world's fastest train

China Daily

China unveils the CR450 high-speed train prototype in Beijing on Dec 29. Two prototypes of the CR450 high-speed train, unveiled on Dec 29 in Beijing, are capable of reaching a test speed of 450 kilometers per hour and an operational speed of 400 km/h, which will make it the fastest train in the world once it enters commercial service. According to Tao Guidong, deputy chief engineer of CRRC Sifang Co, the design inspiration for the CR450AF's train head comes from a flying arrow, with sharp-edged lines resembling ancient Chinese arrowheads. Building upon the foundation of the CR400 Fuxing high-speed electrical multiple unit, the CR450 high-speed train set has undergone comprehensive upgrades in technology. Key technologies include high-power permanent magnet traction, time-sensitive train network communication, multi-level control braking systems, and high-speed safety bogies.
