The Hulkster slipped into his tried-and-true good-guy affect—the veiny visage of vitamin-eating, prayers-saying patriotism—while Jimmy Hart, Hulk’s eternal sidekick, waved an American flag behind him. I think that’s because Hogan, like so many other celebrities in the Trump orbit, seems to have embarking upon his MAGA turn with a sense of bloodless opportunism rather than a deeply held partisan leaning—a cultural force that provides absolution for his many sins and, of course, a chance to make more money. Hulk Hogan, though, is the only one of them who’s been put up onstage like ritual sacrifice for defeated liberals.
