India reports over one lakh new COVID-19 cases in single day for first time
FirstpostThe nationwide COVID-19 tally rose to 1,25,89,067 while the toll increased to 1,65,101 with 478 new fatalities, health ministry data showed New Delhi: Coronavirus cases in India hit a record daily high since the outbreak of the pandemic with 1,03,558 new infections pushing the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 1,25,89,067, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. Registering a steady increase for the 26th day in a row, the active cases have increased to7,41,830, comprising 5.89 percent of the total infections, while the recovery rate has further dropped to 92.80 percent, the data stated. India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September.It went past 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and surpassed the one-crore mark on 19 December. The 478 new fatalities include 222 from Maharashtra, 51 from Punjab, 36 from Chhattisgarh, 31 from Uttar Pradesh, 15 from Karnataka, 14 each from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, 11 from Madhya Pradesh, and 10 each from Himachal Pradesh and Kerala.
