‘India’s patent contribution leaves much to be desired’

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday said India’s patent contribution leaves much to be desired in the global perspective. At the Bharat Electronics Ltd. R&D award ceremony, Mr. Dhankhar said: “In the global perspective, our patent contribution leaves much to be desired. There is no use having research which goes a little beyond surface sketching.” On indigenisation, he said it should not be confined to nuts and bolts. Mr. Dhankhar also visited Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.–Electronics Division in Bengaluru and addressed officials.
