A.P. doctors’ body seeks security for teams during reverification of disability certificates for govt. aid
The HinduMembers of the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors’ Association have written a letter to the Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, K. Vijayanand requesting protection for doctors taking part in the reverification process of certificates issued to persons with disabilities under the Software for Assessment of Disabled for Access, Rehabilitation and Empowerment scheme. A two-member government doctors’ team, comprising a general physician and an orthopedician, will be going door to door to identify beneficiaries. Since the exercise involves delisting of a few persons, whose disability percentage may not be enough to be eligible for pensions, the government doctors’ association fears anger and backlash from people. In response to the State government’s decision to take action against the medical professionals who sanctioned pensions for ineligible persons during the previous regime, Dr. Jayadheer Babu requested that a detailed inquiry be conducted first.
