Nvidia commits to $500bn AI server production in the US

The chipmaker’s move is the latest by tech firms to bring jobs to the United States. “Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain and boosts our resiliency,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said. Huang had said in March that Nvidia sees little short-term impact from higher US tariffs but would move production to the US in the longer term without giving a timeline. Nvidia’s announcement aligns the AI chip giant – whose processors are mostly made in Taiwan – with a clutch of tech firms that have pledged to bring manufacturing back to the US amid threats of steep tariffs from Trump. “It is unlikely Nvidia would have moved any production to the US if it was not for pressure from the Trump administration,” DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria told the news agency Reuters.
