Auto-rickshaw driver challaned Rs 47,000 under new traffic rules

In a recent case, an auto-rickshaw driver in Odisha's Bhubaneswar was fined a whopping Rs 47,500 for violating a slew of traffic rules under the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019. The commissionerate police fined driver Haribandhu Kanhar for a slew of violations including drunken driving, driving without a registration certificate, permit, pollution certificate and insurance among others. In a similar case, a Delhi man was fined Rs 23,000 on Tuesday for riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet and also for not carrying the relevant documents.
