Major fire breaks out in house next to Manipur Chief Minister's residence

A major fire broke out in an abandoned house near Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh's official residence in Imphal on Saturday, officials said. Police said that the abandoned house belonged to the former chief secretary of Goa, Thangkhopao Kipgen. The house is located adjacent to the Kuki Inn complex, which is opposite the Chief Minister’s residence in Babupara in Imphal. Officials of the Manipur Fire Service said that as the house had remained abandoned for over a year, it was hard to extinguish and control the fire.
