Police use drones to bust 3.55 acre of ganja fields in ASR district
India TodayThe Alluri Sitarama Raju district police deployed drones to conduct an extensive anti-ganja operation on Monday, November 11, identifying and destroying 3.55 acres of cannabis plantations across 20 locations in Degalarai village, Solabham panchayat, and G Madugula Mandal in Andhra Pradesh. The targeted plantations were on varied land types, including 1.2 acre of patta land where four individuals were cultivating cannabis, 0.05 acre of government land where one individual was held, nine individuals on 1.95 acre of unsurveyed land, and five individuals for growing cannabis on 0.35 acre of forest land. This operation follows the ASR district’s 100-Day Action Plan initiated on June 12, 2024, which aims to combat ganja cultivation and trafficking through coordinated law enforcement and community efforts. The comprehensive approach combines strict law enforcement with public awareness initiatives, emphasising ASR district’s commitment to eradicating ganja production and trafficking across the district.
