‘Didn’t Read The Script’: Actor Akef Najem Shares His Regrets For Acting In Aadujeevitham
Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life created a stir at the box office after its theatrical release earlier this year in March. Jordanian artist Akef Najem has publicly apologised to Saudi society for his involvement in the film Aadujeevitham following the criticism over his portrayal of a wealthy Arab character. The actor stated that due to the excitement of showing Saudi Arabia in the ‘best possible way’, he didn’t read the script and ended up portraying the negative character. “I did not read the entire film, but only my role … and it was explained to me about the film and its hero, that he gets lost in the desert for several days until he dies, then a noble Saudi man, who is me, saves him … and this is what prompted me to agree to play the role because it reflects the chivalry and humanity of the Saudis,” wrote Akef Najem in a recent post on Instagram. “I apologise to the brotherly Saudi people with whom we have always been connected by ties of brotherhood, kinship and lineage, leadership and people,” wrote Akef Najem.
