
Karnatak University to take delegation to govt. seeking funds to tide over crunch
The HinduKarnatak University, Dharwad, one of the oldest universities in the State, which has exhausted internal resources even to pay pensioners, has decided to take a delegation to the State government seeking additional funds. Replying to a query during a press conference in Dharwad on Wednesday, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university Jayashri S. said that they plan to send a delegation of Syndicate members to Bengaluru to seek additional funds from the government for making mandatory payments and also, funds for development. Finance Officer C. Krishnamurthy said that the university required funds to the tune of ₹126 crore annually towards various expenses, development and maintenance works and payment to pensioners. Prof. Jayashri said that as there has been no response from the government on requests for additional funds, they have decided to send a delegation of Syndicate members to the government seeking funds.
