Cassius Turvey's murder trial told his death was 'end point of a complex series of events'
ABCThe death of Perth schoolboy Cassius Turvey was "the end point of a complex series of events" that had "nothing to do with him", WA's Supreme Court has been told at the start of the trial of the four people accused of his murder. 'Petty grievances' led to death In an opening address, state prosecutor Benjamin Stanwix SC said how Cassius Turvey came to be "murdered" was a "remarkable" story, saying his death was "the end point of a complex series events that had absolutely nothing to do with him". Mr Stanwix described the facts of what happened as "long and complex", and the events that led to the 15-year-old's death had started weeks earlier when Ms Gilmore's 14-year old brother started dating a girl. "Jack Brearley chased Cassius Turvey into a creek and repeatedly struck him with a metal pole and those blows caused him to die," Mr Stanwix said. After the incident, the four accused returned home where Mr Stanwix said "13 minutes of mayhem" ensued, including arguments and discussion about whether the boy who had been bashed was "dark skinned".
